Blog #5

One of the biggest accomplishments I achieved with my final is giving it the ability of animation.
A technique I had difficulty with was editing the masks once I placed them. Now I am able to edit them efficiently as shown in my final project. With these two works I was able to improve my blending and once I learned the potential in using masks I was able to make my works more vivid than the previous work.

My Big idea is The Unknown and I used the theme of nature and the universe. I wanted to show the relationship of Nature and Our universe by showing what our world could possibly look like somewhere else. I chose this because there are still some many unexplored places that could go completely different from what we normally believe. To show this I used different masks in an animation to show the changes that we aren’t used to. This animation should be used to let people think more about our universe and nature.

The Genre I used was conceptual point of views. As references I used the artists, Paul Bica and David Rocal. I really like the colorful skies and vivid images used in Paul Bica's Art (Shown Below). A new Photoshop technique I would like to use in my final would be Animation.

Quiz 4 Analysis

The two movie poster I chose was The Notebook and Inglourious Basterds. Brad Pitt made for a good candidate in this movie because it seems easy for him to get down and dirty and still be able to clean up enough to attract the ladies. Instead of making Inglourious Basterds a film for guys I made it look like a film that would appeal to the audience that are attracted to movies like The Notebook. By changing the color of the sky and adding\removing a few props i made this movie poster do just that.

Artist Statement

My big idea is the Universe. I explored this big idea through nature, the planets, other beings, and phenomenons. A theme is exploring how all these things interconnect. I researched my big idea through Google Images and Flickr. I tried use anything that had movement to it as a way to to show the universe at work. I also plan to using blending and warping so the pictures seem like they are one. Showing how the universe is connected through everything. This is important because without the universe our world wouldn't exist and everything revolves around the universe.

I enjoy seeing any sort of space related image. The big idea looks like it would be the Unknowing or The Power of Nature.

The artist is able to show in his pictures how powerful and destructive nature can be and yet the beauty still seems to come through.

Blurring an image can really show that an object is in motion and I would like to show that in my images to.

This artist appeals to me because I like what he does with the colors and skies. The colors he uses contrast a lot with each other and the his skies always seem to be a different color. His big idea looks like moving but not in a way normal for anyone.

I am inspired by the different perspectives he uses.

I am sure he uses mask on the skies to give the their color and I will most likely be using that.

All Three of these images are of mountains in different areas by Steve Carter.

This mountain looks like it was taken drawn from the middle range. The smooth contours show that it is computer generated.

This mountain shows an ocean that seems to be out of place with a mountain this size.
This image shows a lake surround by a rocky terrain.

Art Interpretation

How does the media influence how our culture views art?

Since the beginning when Art was used in advertisements. Media has always had a big influence on how our culture views art. For some of us we let the media decide what is art. For example, Designer clothes are a form of art. The media has become who we go to to see what's in and in this case the art.
